Tompkins Square Middle School

Since I began teaching at TSMS last August, I’ve accumulated an unexpected variety of photos from workshops and collaborations between me and the staff and students. I’ve compiled most of that work in a series of galleries here in one post.

Love Trumps Hate

Printing these words felt cathartic and was a creative reminder not to get lost in the negative feelings about what his presidency represents.

Here’s something I designed and printed earlier this week. I love doing color overlays with screen prints. It’s fun to figure out the colors and there’s an imperfect quality with the results that looks beautiful to me.

Use art to help yourself keep positive thoughts.

Trump’s inauguration is this Friday and looms heavy in the distance as I make my plans for the future. Printing these words felt cathartic and was a creative¬†reminder not to get lost in the negative feelings about what his presidency represents. However I know it’s not enough to make the impact I want, and it’s just a momentary emotional release. So the work must continue.

I am selling the prints at my new shop if you’re interested. It’s my humble contribution to the resistance, the call to which I feel more urgently these days.
